I have been an artist for most of my working life, (Apart from a five year stint as a nurse). For 12 years I ran Billie Bond Designs with my husband. We designed and made hand painted children’s furniture supplying stores such as Selfridges and John Lewis as well as selling mail order. We sold the business in 2004.

I became a lady painter decorator Mural Artist which I loved, but unfortunately in 2007 I had a slipped disc but persevered through it continuing working. However it made me realise that I needed to make a career change again. Teaching Art, seemed the best option especially with my experience, which is why at the ripe old age of 43, I am now a student doing a degree in 3D Design and Craft, specialising in sculpture!

During my first study leave I decided to decorate my bathroom. Two days later, I was in hospital having emergency back surgery to prevent permanent paralysis.
The day I came out of hospital was the day I found out that I had been selected to go on the Fourth Plinth of Antony Gormley’s One and Other!
This has helped with my recovery, and given me an opportunity to raise awareness about how art is important for people with disabilities like my sister with Down’s Syndrome and now me with my weak leg!Billie paints attractive and lifelike portraits that feature in national art competitions portrait pages
