Wilfred Bion Bust (1897-1979)
A commission to create a bronze bust of Bion. He joins those of Freud and Klein at the Institute of Psychoanalysis, London.
A maquette for that bust is now available as a limited edition on my SHOP Wilfred Bion (1897–1979) was a pioneering British psychoanalyst known for his influential work in group dynamics and psychoanalytic theory. Born in India, he was educated in England at Winchester College and Oxford. Bion served in World War I, experiences that deeply impacted his later work. Initially a psychiatrist, he joined the Tavistock Clinic, focusing on group psychology, and later trained as a psychoanalyst under Melanie Klein. Bion developed theories on thinking processes, introducing concepts like "container-contained" and "beta elements." His innovative ideas significantly shaped both psychoanalysis and organisational psychology, leaving a lasting legacy in understanding human thought and group behaviour. |
