Transition
2016
H149 W70 D86 Jesmonite, steel, Nylon, acrylic, resin Edition 1 of 3 One by one each broken piece is picked up, questioned and inspected. What to do now? Time……. Time…….. Time…….. Slowly each piece is worked on. The metaphorical healing process begins. Each piece individually being moulded then recast. The piecing back together begins. The social scaffolding tries to rebuild, there is some reconstruction but also irreparable damage shows its voids. This suspended fragmented self, hovers between the point of impact and the scars of repair. This is time, a slow time, an oscillation of emotions, a period of transition. There is still life in the stark whiteness of the broken eggshell like surface. A fleeting moist pinkness of the lips is perhaps in anticipation of a verbal response. The searching eyes with focused pupils communicate urgency, a cry for help before all is lost in the abyss. But these fragments gently spin within the artist’s frame, in search for connection, in search of change. |
